On a Raspberry Pi or any Debian/Ubuntu box, run our one-line installer (it pulls the .deb from our CDN and runs the standard apt install). Prefer to do it by hand? Download the .deb directly. On Mac or Windows, grab the desktop player installer.

Plug the player display host (Pi or desktop) into your HDMI display and power it on. The Farsight Viewer launches automatically and shows a discovery screen while it searches for a DM on your network.

Download Farsight from the Play Store or App Store on your Android phone or tablet, iPad, or iPhone.

The Farsight Viewer auto-discovers the DM's device on your local network. Once connected, the canvas appears on the monitor automatically. Need a manual connection? Use the QR code shown in the GM app to connect directly.

Pick a campaign (D&D 5e or Pirate Borg), build your party, and drop into the canvas. Players watch the monitor; you control every reveal from your device.

Make sure the DM device (Android/iOS) and the player display are on the same local network. Open the GM app and check that the server is running. If auto-discovery fails, use the QR code or manually enter the IP address shown in the GM app.
The Pi takes about 60 seconds to boot the kiosk. If the screen is still black after two minutes, check the HDMI cable and try a different port on the display.
The Pi's onboard radio has limited range. For larger tables or longer rooms, plug a USB Wi-Fi adapter into the Pi for a stronger hotspot.

Scenes auto-save continuously on the DM device as you work. If the app force-quits you may lose the last few seconds of changes. Close the app normally between sessions rather than force-killing it.
The viewer auto-detects resolution. On Raspberry Pi, if it picked something low you can force native resolution in /etc/farsight/farsight.conf and reboot. On desktop, resize the viewer window to match your display's native resolution.
Pi, Mac, Windows, and Linux all get a free, direct download of the player-side build. If the project helps you run better games and you would like to chip in, the server is also listed pay-what-you-want on itch.io.

Download the Farsight Importer from itch.io. Install it in Chrome via Developer mode (chrome://extensions → Load unpacked).

In the Farsight app, open Settings → App → Farsight Importer Extension and copy the server URL. This is the local address the extension uses to push data.

Open the extension popup, go to the Settings tab, paste the URL, and tap Test connection. Once it confirms, the D&D Beyond and Foundry tabs are ready to use.
